i love this roll-your-own-saas app vibe sometimes it's simpler to own a simple stack you 100% understand than to onboard to a fully-featured app

[link]

this makes me so happy and somehow, also sad

[link]

@val.town is legit so fun to make dumb little apps and tools and cronjobs with! its like if cloudflare workers was more friendly

val.town is a delightfully simple tool for writing hosted serverless functions, which makes it a perfect fit for handing Replicate webhooks. We wrote a little guide to standing up a simple API on Val Town that receives webhook events from Replicate and sends you email notifications. 🧵...

this is your monthly reminder that if you don't use a maccy.app (or any clipboard manager) you're really missing out this reminder is brought to you by my annoyance whenever i see someone not have it installed and go copy things multiple times

Fork, run, edit, & pull request – all under the 60 second bluesky video limit!

Idea for reality show: You can learn anything Guests show up with a skill they've failed to learn and feel is beyond them, be it calculus, how to hit a backend, how to draw, how to write well, how to code, whatever Then you learn that thing on the show

[link]

I'm looking for programmers to onboard to ✨ Val Town Projects ✨ to: • create a personal site or blog • full-stack app • backend • internal tool • or really anything you can do in js/ts 🤔 Who would like to be personally onboarded? DMs open :)

TIL the hard way that foreign keys in SQLite DO NOT automatically give you indexes In other news, cerebrascoder.com is now 10x faster

I run a small community and it's important I stay up on the limited number of conversations in this space. But monitoring topics on Bluesky is hard... Not any more! 😌✨ Now anyone can get a daily email of relevant conversations using the free Bluesky Phrase Tracker 👇 www.val.town/v/panphora/b...

it is a bittersweet fact that one can always get better at something through effort the upside is that there is no ceiling the downside is that you have to climb the stairs to get a better view, and there's always a better view, and more stairs to climb

[link]

i made a free and hackable status page and uptime monitor, which will email you if your site has downtime it's a val town project, so you can fork it & have it running in seconds we just built forks and pull requests, so be one of the first ever to try them out! they're crazy fast!

Single File Web Apps: matthamlin.me/blog/2025/fe... @val.town allows for a pretty neat behavior where the server entrypoint can be the exact same module as the client entrypoint!

Brian Eno: “The great benefit of sequencers is that they remove the issue of skill, and replace it with the issue of judgement.” This, but for every medium.

[link]

I wrote a lil’ @val.town script to periodically check for spots in a class I'd like to take and email me if any sections open up!

[link]

This was very nice!

[link]

used @ValDotTown to snipe the hard to get nintendo museum tickets 1. get the availability data—nintendo tried to prevent this, bypass is just spoofying a header 2. availability is int-encoded, pattern matched to find the open pattern 3. sends telegram message when open found

[link]

Finally had a moment to play around with @val.town. It's super fun! Hacking on a small workout planner and it's a fun way to get up and running with a few APIs very quickly.

[link]

I built a tool (using @val.town) that will summarize the email sent to it (great for long newsletters). Details here: paul.kinlan.me/projects/ema... Or send an email here: paulkinlan.emailSummaryHandler@valtown.email

Built a cipher game bao-cipher.web.val.run Just try to decode a letter substitution cipher as quick as you can. You can share the game link and compete against a friend. Initially it’s for my kid to practice in a competition, but it’s kinda fun and now I just keep playing it.

@tldraw.com computer and @val.town are besties

[link]

i use gather.directory to upload photos to an @are.na channel and a val town endpoint i made in literally less than a minute (so good!) that grabs me the last block from the channel

[link]

Had some fun with AI this morning. I used Townie from val.town to create a holiday drink menu. A few prompts, embellished the content and the site is hosted in seconds. That was a lot of fun. dave_smith-holidaycocktailmenu.web.val.run

Doctor's offices are magical rooms Just by walking inside, you agree to pay whatever price they bill you for It's like an omakase restaurant that lets you know the price of the meal by mail 6 weeks later. Remember that stringy fish you didn't like? That'll be $400
